From First Call to Finished Door

1

Tell us what the door did

Say what you heard and where the door stopped. A bang, a scrape, a car reversing into it or a power cut all point the inspection in a different direction.

2

Confirm the address and access

Give the property address and note anything a technician needs to know: a gate code, an alley entrance, a second bay or a car shut inside.

3

Approve the quote

The technician names the failed part, explains the options and gives a price for the work before touching anything on the door.

4

Check the door before we go

The finished door is cycled by hand and by opener, the balance is tested and any changed remote or keypad is handed back working.

Before the Appointment

The most useful thing you can do while waiting is to stop using the door. A broken spring, a slack cable or a section out of its track all leave the door’s weight somewhere it was not designed to sit, and every extra cycle makes the repair bigger. Leave the release cord alone as well, particularly if the door is standing open.

What does help is information. Photograph the label inside the door and the sticker on the opener motor, note whether the door is up, down or stuck part way, and say if a vehicle is shut inside. Two clear photographs regularly decide which parts get loaded onto the van that morning.

From there, look through the repairs we cover, check your town on the service areas page, read the common questions or go to request service. If a bigger decision is looming, the repair versus replacement comparison is the place to start.
